Bespoke Fencing in Southwest London
Why Choose Our Natural Fencing Solutions?
Natural Timber Material Choice
We prioritise sustainably sourced, high-grade timbers such as premium pressure-treated softwood, European Larch and Western Red Cedar. Free from artificial finishes, our natural wooden battens and panels age gracefully, integrating seamlessly into the South West London landscape.
Uncompromising Privacy & Perimeter Security
A secure boundary gives you complete peace of
mind. Whether you need heavy-duty solid panels to block out noise and unwanted access, or slatted designs that offer screening without restricting light, our installations keep your home and garden private and protected.
Aesthetic Uplift: Framing Your Planting
Rich, natural wood tones create the ultimate organic
canvas for your garden. The undertones of timber make lush leaves, climbing hydrangeas, and colourful perennial borders pop, instantly turning a plain boundary into a defining visual feature.

Our Fencing Craftsmanship
We start by walking your garden with you, checking how light falls across your borders, where the boundary line actually sits, and what your existing planting needs before recommending the right timber profile. A close-board fence gives you privacy but can starve a shaded bed of light, so we talk through the trade-offs rather than defaulting to the easiest option.
Materials moving through a house without side access cause more damage than most people expect. We protect your floors and doorframes throughout the job and clear all offcuts and debris before we leave, so you’re not left cleaning up after us.
Every fence is built to fit, not trimmed down from a standard size. From acoustic screening for noisy roads to trellis toppers for climbing plants and custom timber gates measured for your exact opening, each installation is tailored to your garden rather than pulled off a shelf.

The SW London Gardeners visit me twice a year, at the beginning and the end of the summer season. They always do a fantastic job tidying up the garden, cutting back the plants and also giving advice on anything that is needed. They make a huge difference in the few hours that they are in my garden. They are extremely professional and friendly, and I feel like I have found my ‘forever gardeners’.Posted on Kenzie Horn2024-06-07Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Scott, Mary, and Stuart were absolutely brilliant. They showed up on time, worked through some pretty terrible weather, and gave great advice about what would work in our space and be easy to maintain. We couldn't be happier with our garden!Posted on Ellie Loughnan2024-02-23Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We chose this company because of the reviews which referenced how considerate and professional this company are, but not even these do full justice to the wonderful team at The South West London Gardener company. Scott and David first took time to listen so carefully to what we wanted, not making us feel rushed and taking all of our requests and hopes seriously. They provided a clear quote within days of coming, and then arranged a date to begin work, all of which they stuck to. Scott, David and Mary then worked tirelessly, through even awful weather, to return a very loved (but neglected and complex) space into a tranquil, beautiful, nature-sensitive oasis. This included removal of huge amounts of garden waste, which they had to do through our flat, and this too was done carefully and thoughtfully. Every detail of work was completed to the highest standard and with care, skill and consideration. The entire team were just a joy to work with. The creativity, warmth and kindness they show, as well as the skill and craftsmanship with which they work, make them stand out to us as one of the best companies we have ever worked with; we won’t hesitate to use them again and again, and to recommend them widely.Posted on Vince & Celia Webb2024-01-15Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Two years ago we used the Southwest London Gardener Ltd to plan and create a new front garden for our suburban home. We were so pleased with the result that when we decided to significantly change the design of our back garden there was no hesitation in again using these horticultural experts. The process begins with detailed discussions on what one wants from a new garden leisure space. Taking account of the aesthetic and practical nature of the garden, computer plans are produced and provide a starting point for the project. It is clear from those initial discussions that you are dealing with a wholly professional company. Throughout the design and creation of the garden you are kept fully appraised of progress and there is flexibility, on both sides, to adapt ideas as the new garden takes shape. We were extremely impressed with all members of the team and it is clear that the company use personnel with wide-ranging skills in design, structure, and horticultural knowledge. The team members are polite, friendly and respectful of your home and garden. They undoubtedly possess a great deal of pride in their work. Once the new garden is created the team provides detailed advice and guidance on the future care of plants, etc. We are delighted with our new back garden and have no hesitation in recommending Southwest London Gardener Ltd.Posted on David Anthony2023-05-31Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We found Scott during a Google search and decided to reach out to him after reading some very favourable reviews. Scott put us at ease as soon as we met him - he seemed genuinely interested in our project and keen to help. He also took the time to chat to our daughters, as he knew that their input was important as well - a true indication of how caring and considerate he is. When we later got a puppy, Scott was also sure to factor her needs in... When the work started, we quickly realised Scott only used extremely polite and engaging staff to work alongside - each employee has been a joy to have in & out of our house. Once the initial clearance was done, we kept in contact and he would check in periodically, often over a cup of coffee and contemplating the aspects of the garden that worked for us. He took the time to listen to our views and was always pragmatic in his approach. When we were ready to move onto the next steps, we talked at length about the project, and Scott made many notes and asked for a few days to digest everything we spoke about. His resulting drawings and project plans encapsulated extremely well what we had discussed, with a couple of suggestions from him based on his musings and knowledge of our garden (soil type, aspect, features etc.). As we were embarking on various different projects (garden/garden room/remodelling inside the house) it was imperative that all three teams involved were able to liaise with each other. We set up a meeting for all parties and found each group was willing to work alongside each other in a measured, considerate way. While main decisions were made with each contractor, we set up an email group for communication purposes. Scott in particular, as the man 'in the middle' between the house and the garden room, was extremely good at communicating some of the key dates, deliveries, measurements etc. While much of the garden work in these stages was clearance and preparation, Scott stressed that we should wait until the garden room was finished before making detailed plans, knowing full well that the 'feel' of our space would change once that was completed. It is this patience that I believe sets him apart from others who may choose to wow you with their vision (product placements/plant selections) at an earlier stage. When the garden room was nearly complete, Scott returned for the next stages - the friendly team now also included Mary, Scott's partner. It was quickly apparent that she is a key piece of the Southwest London Gardener jigsaw. Professional, hardworking and extremely talented, yet very unassuming (and an absolute pleasure to have around!). As the gardening works progressed, we discussed freely each aspect being tackled, and weighed up pros & cons of various planting/direction/material options, Scott & Mary provided much guidance during these stages and really helped us make some key decisions. We are just so happy with what they have achieved for us. They kept to their timings, kept to budget (where plans changed, reflection on pricing was done swiftly and fairly) and have given us a dream garden which we are looking forward to enjoying and seeing develop over the coming years.Posted on Rachel Baxter2023-02-25Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This team are amazing. They designed and landscaped our garden to a very high quality. Scott and Mary had so many great ideas and suggestions which transformed the garden for us. It was so easy to leave it in their hands to create the best space. They were also a pleasure to have around and were extremely friendly and considerate. We look forward to having them back to help maintain the beautiful garden they created.Posted on Matt Lilley2022-11-21Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Scott, Mary and the team did a fantastic job on a complete redesign and renovation of my garden (lifting of existing paving, replacing fencing, installing a deck and astroturf and planting). They were always professional and a pleasure to deal with. I really appreciated Scott's advice in terms of planning the project and formalising a design that would work well in the space. Common Questions About Garden Fencing in South West London
Cedar has natural oils that resist rot without any chemical treatment, ages to a soft silver-grey, and costs more than the other two options. Larch is denser and harder wearing, holding up well against damp without warping, and settles into a similar weathered tone over a few years. Pressure-treated softwood costs less upfront and works well for structural framing or less visible boundaries, though it won’t age as gracefully as cedar or larch. Scott recommends based on your budget, how visible the fence is, and how much maintenance you want to do down the line.
Most standard boundary runs take two to three days once materials are on site. Larger projects involving acoustic screening, custom gates, or trellis additions can take a week or more depending on the scope. We give you an accurate timeframe after the site visit, once we know the exact length, height, and features involved.
Yes, and we do this regularly across the terraced properties common in Southwest London. We carry timber, posts, and tools through your house using protective sheeting on floors and doorframes, and we clear all offcuts and packaging before we leave.
It can, depending on orientation and how tall you go. That’s why we walk your garden with you before recommending a profile. Slatted or louvred designs let light and air through while still giving you privacy at eye level, which works well for shaded borders or gardens with mature planting close to the boundary.
Yes. Acoustic fencing uses denser timber and layered construction rather than a single panel, which genuinely reduces sound from busy roads or noisy neighbours rather than just blocking sight lines. We can advise on the right specification once we know the source and level of noise you’re dealing with.
We build every fence to your specific space, so matching height, timber tone, or post spacing to an existing run is straightforward. We also add trellis toppers for climbing plants and build custom timber gates measured to your exact opening, rather than fitting a standard size that leaves gaps.
We stand behind both materials and workmanship. Any issues arising from installation are covered, and we’ll talk you through the expected lifespan of your chosen timber during the consultation so you know what to expect in terms of maintenance and longevity.
