The South West London Gardener

Hidden Japanese Garden

Hidden Japanese Garden

Our clients had a heavily overgrown garden.  Bamboo at the bottom and got out of control and needed severe thinning.
The lawn had dried out and was in need of replacement having been taken over by weeds and the borders been neglected over time resulting in a culmination of unwanted greenery and the inability to see the boundaries.
The garden benefitted from a stunning maple which was lost and our focus was to make this a highlight of the garden.

Bordering the railway line we created a distraction and a further seating area to allow a space to sit and enjoy the evening sun.

We removed the dead bamboos and thinned out substantially and cutback to give shape.
We cleared the beds, pruned the borders and lifted and cleaned the buried slate chippings that were laid throughout the borders.
The acer was pruned revealing its true beauty and the lawn turf removed, dug over, weeded, fertilised and new turf laid.
