Project: Family open space in East Sheen, London. SW14
Brief: A natural open space where their growing family could relax, socilaise and soak up natural surroundings.
Our clients had recently purchased their home and had a young child as well as a baby on the way. Builders had spent months renovating the interior of the house with the garden being the last project.
The garden had been used as a builders storage and work area up until now.
There were several requirements for the garden. Working from home was important, as was a large open space in which the children can play. There was also a requirement to have an area where the family could sit and dine.
We started by clearing and levelling the ground. New fencing was installed to secure and define the garden. A new tiled patio was laid around the new garden office which provides a seating and dining experience and was located in the sunniest part of the garden.
An undefined and playful way of getting to and from the house was created using ‘stepping stones’.
Wooden ‘sleeper beds’ were built to contain all new planting which includes Japanese Maples, evergreen shrubs and small seasonal planting giving an easy to maintain all year round natural aspect on each side of the garden.
The final touch was to lay a new turf lawn to create a safe play space for the children.
Build time: Between 25 to 30 working days.
Cost Guide: Between 24 and 30k
